Union

Sulago,

With all due respect that is a month from now and we don't have a month to wait. The new appraisers union officers troll this website. I'm sure they have read my post. The phone call I mentioned to Andrew Cuomo by the head of the AFL-CIO could have been made yesterday. Unions sell access and it appears they want their money upfront. This really is simple but I doubt anything is going to change with Cuomo until after the election. If Obama wins Cuomo is not going to change his stance. Selling out to the AMC's keeps an investigation of Fannie and Freddie from happening. Obama is not going to sick the FBI after his old buddies and current economic advisors also known as the former heads of Fannie and Freddie. If McCain wins he will probably put the FBI on Fannie and Freddie. Don't hold your breath hoping to see the Democrats investigating Fannie and Freddie. Wall Street is another story. Those hearings start in January 2009. Remember folks, Andrew Cuomo was against AMC's before he was for them. Cuomo claimed that eAppraiseIT never stood up to WAMU and AMC's were not the answer to lender pressure on appraisers. A few days later to keep out an investigation of Fannie and Freddie, Cuomo suddenly changed his mind and claimed AMC's were great and the way to keep lender pressure off appraisers. Once again, the party that claims we need change in Washington is up to business as usual. Just for grins and giggles, do a google search and see how money the AFL-CIO has given to Andrew Cuomo. Don't take my word for it. They will say I'm just being negative.

:unsure:We get it your a republican. I mean look at your posts and threads in all the forums. Your looking like a plant from the Republican Party. We are a bipartisan membership. Now IUPAT supports Obama but for reasons that have to do with the working person and families. This is what a union does. No one tells you who to vote for. I'm a democrat you have your views I have mine. No need to argue over it. Yours are evidently a little over the top when it comes to attempting a point. I like Obama this is why, his leadership on labor issues, workers' rights and strengthening the economy for hardworking Americans.

This is why IUPAT backs him too. The ones that are passing positive legislation for the average worker. This is why we got involved with the union. This is after all what it all comes down to how our pockets and quality of our profession is affected. Now that Union of Real Estate Appraisers are part of this we can help change the negative legislation Steve.. But, it can not be done unless we all pull together. IUPAT support some of these guys you have listed? Yea well, so did a good percentage of the members in this forum. What, you think your way of thinking is good for everyone? Some of us in here are Democrats. As the world turns a Bipartisan forum is born. Before we joined with IUPAT no members in our profession to let "those guys" know what peices of legislation and agreement could do to hurt us. Now there is. Union of Real Estate Appraisers has been here just 2 weeks and I see IUPAT is making room for us and listening. We have a voice and are just assigned a lobbiest and will do our best. But now that we have backing all we need is more support from members who want to get involved. Part of our decision to join IUPAT was because they are already 140,000 of our consumers strong. What an alliance. After all what is affecting us affects consumers more. Imagine 140,000 consumers already supporting this profession. Union of Real Estate Appraisers has a few plans to start working on the issues at hand. You don't have to obviously your being proactive or just waisting your time in this forum. Not sure you still have not stated what it is your doing to help. After repeated times asking. If you are it can only be good. So what is it that you are doing? And yes time is of the essence. We all need to be working on the issues. In the Senate the last several years there have only been up to 6% appraisers representing our profession. The mortgage industry and other were the predominant. That is SAD.

The last two major national issues the unions have faced have been NAFTA and illegal immigration. They were total failures getting their points across on those issues and ALL Union members are against them. Look what unions have done for the city of Detroit, for the Air Traffic Controlers, on and on...

What have they accomplished in the past 30 years??? Unions were great during their time, but now they are just not the answer. What professions are they involved with, white or blue collar, where they have increased the quality of that profession?

For full disclosure, I am not a Republican plant, I have little use for both parties, they BOTH caused the problems we are facing !!! The union does not have the power or money to out spend the deep pocket lobbyist of the lending industry, our only hope is to get all the appraisers in the profession to just stop working for the AMCs and then they will disappear. But with half of the appraisers in existence not wanting anything to do with a union (see the forum poll as an example), good luck with that...

All kidding aside Consumer. What does me being a Republican have anything to do with Andrew Cuomo selling out appraisers in the HVCC agreement? Am I really over the top? Why because I disagree with you? As for National Politics let's just say there are 2 enormous lies told by both parties. The first is "Republicans are the Family Values Party." The second is " Democrats care about workers and working families." What the hell am I? Look I've heard all the change crap before starting with Carter. Most recently it was the O'Malley crap. We got change alright. We got a 20% increase in the sales tax and higher business taxes. Let' not forget how he was going to reign in BGE. Have you seen your energy bill go down? Oh right that was caused by Bush. NOMALLEY! NOBAMA!

It is amazing how the Dems changed their minds on slots isn't it ???

Anyway, you are forgetting the first rule in Union membership, DISAGREEMENT is NOT allowed !!!

Yeah, we get it too....you are just another Socialist a/k/a Democrat who thinks that unions and socialism are going to save the world. No thanks to your vision of a workers' paradise...that's been tried already and did not work out too well.

BTW, I find both the Democrat and Republican parties to be complete frauds whose only real interest is maintaining the duopoly on political power that they share....the Republicans are the lesser evil of the two, not that that is saying much.
