I sure hope the bold part is right - for the future of our democracy. Do you have any sources for that statement that you could share?
I heard some top people talking about a national effort to do so and apparently it's being setup now. No links but I will do some digging.

Hope you are right Glenn.

My rational side would prefer to see Gov Ron Desantis run and win the presidency in 2026.

My emotional side would LOVE to see Trump run and win again - just for the mental anguish and meltdowns it would cause to the &%@*#$! brain-damaged, hallucinating Leftists.

Its 100% Trump's decision though. Can't see any Repubs in their right minds challenging him if he runs. The rational side of me would like to see him retire and devote himself to helping to elect Desantis. But I can't hold it against him if her runs again. Every single presidential candidate who believed (with good reason) that he had been robbed has run again (Jackson, Cleveland. TRoosevelt - whose nomination was stolen by his own party in 1912 - was set to run again in 1920, but he died in 1919).
I agree with that part, but the feeling is fleeting and then we get four years of garp. Now I'm talking as someone who voted for him twice, but I've seen enough. I'm PO'd at him because he had a great opportunity but squandered it because he can't play nice with others. Also he lost an election to a man who can't string a coherent thought together and campaigned from a bunker. Most everything of any consequence he accomplished was wiped out by Biden executive orders on day one of his presidency. I'm still not 100% sure DeSantis wants to run, but if he does everyone should clear the lane for him. Sounds like you would prefer DeSantis also.

Ron Desantis is OK but I'm not sure he has much appeal on a National Level. Trump is being set up so he may not be able to run and if you think the 4 year witch hunt was bad these guys are all now in panic mode as they know Joe Biden cannot win another mail election. This is why that Dog and Pony show they put on yesterday comparing Pearl Harbor and 911 to that wannabe fake Insurrection was so eye opening. My guess is they lost at least 20% of their combat veteran voters and in totality thats millions and millions of people.
Also even the Yentas Woke Hole New York City relatives went nuts yesterday and they are Liberals.
So Biden's constituents are fuming about 911 being compared. politically. Those two dander heads both gave themselfs self inflicted politcal head shots. It was like watching the movie Dumb and Dumber but they were not funny. 11 months to mid-terms and I am quite confident that that is enough time for them to self implode and both will ride out 2 years a lame ducks.
What I don't get is why do they trot Harris out to say some stupid crap before Biden says his stupid crap. Isn't one crap enough?

Agree yesterday was a complete blow out for Team Biden but a bonus for us who want him and Harris gone.

I also think a couple of well-heeled Democrats will run to challenge either Biden or Harris, whomever is the sitting president at the time of the election. And do not forget that the House and Senate is currently looking good for the Republicans in '22 and that puts impeachment power in their hands.

They are trying to set up a narrative that terrorism = Republicans and/or conservatives. The premise is childish and undefensiable but that was the whole point of those two speeches.

My point is that it emasculates Biden.

I agree, Harris is way over her head, ambition without talent and certainly not presidential. That reflects on Biden who evidently knew the office of President was over his head as well so he picks a lightweight because that's the safest thing to do so you aren't upstaged.

I was surprise she chose Harris as VP. I thought he would have chosen that lady governor from Michigan. It made sense to get a midwest state rep for VP since CA was in the bag for him.

The #1 principle in choosing a running mate is (as someone has already alluded to above): don't outshine the #1 spot on the ticket. As someone pointed out above (using more diplomatic language than I am about to use), if you are a mentally declining goober, picking an obnoxious airhead seemed like an almost inevitably obvious choice.

Some historical examples from the past 50 years:

Nixon - Agnew
Carter - Mondale;
Reagan - GHWB;
GHWB - Quayle;
Clinton - Gore;
Obama - Biden
Trump - Pence

(I omitted GWB - Cheney because it is arguably the one exception where the VP was seen as the equal to the POTUS - and we all know how much humor and ridicule that generated).

In all of the above cases the second banana was somewhere between borderline lightweight (Agnew, Quayle, Biden), and competent but boring (Mondale, GHWB, Gore, Pence) - and thus did not threaten to outshine the POTUS.
