Wild Fires In LA

So from everything I've read here, does anyone have any ideas for future waterfront fire assistance? Or is this just a Republicon/Democrat gaffing?
Israel has some fantastic saltwater desalination technology. I have heard that fire departments cant use saltwater as it destroys the metal hose fittings but their plants might be a viable solution, but .....I'm sure they have regulations against that

Did you know the Navy has been using that exact same thing forever. How do you think fresh water is made at sea??

You answered your question.

Saltwater might degrade some fittings....over time...a long time.

But when you're up to your azz in alligators, you can't worry about the idea that you are there to drain the swamp.

Using whatever water is available is the only reasonable thing to do and if necessary, replace some fittings in a few months or years, if necessary.

The powers in CA need to implement a vigorous program directed at regularly thining areas like the Santa Monica Canyon and other fire-prone regions. At a minimum, the insurance carriers will likely demand such a program be put in place to issue new policies.

I haven't been glued to the news like my wife has. I have enough worries going on right now in our own world. When the Pacific Palisades fires really got going, aircraft couldn't assist due to the strong winds.

Now that the winds have subsided, there's like about 14 helicopters consistently dumping water on the hot spots. What I don't understand, is where are the Super Scoopers? These are the planes that scoop up water from Lakes and sometimes when calm enough, the ocean and dump it on the fires.
I’m just heard that some of the planes are down for maintenance and also the winds are too high for the planes to safely operate.

I just saw a Super Soaker for the first time on the news just now. However, it's downed and out of commission due to a run in with a drone. *Sigh*

I am considering flying to Hawaii tomorrow. Going from thru San Francisco to avoid the LAX mess. Always wanted to see the north shore in January to witness the pipeline break.

The North Shore of Oahu is an epic place. If you get there and Pipeline is breaking....you'll be stunned on how shallow and close it breaks to shore....awe inspiring to be sure.
