Wild Fires In LA

The LAFD Chief got called into a closed door meeting with the Mayor after complaining in an interview that her dept was not not properly funded.

And speaking of preparation for a disaster, When covid first broke out, Trump had a good 6 week -2 month lead time compared to Europe due to Americans' relative isolation at keeping Covid from reaching here and his allowing cruise ships to keep coming, no test or quarantine for passengers getting off, and his decision was ban Chinese nationals from flying in but allowing Americans living in China to keep coming in, without quarantine or a test, let the virus in here much faster then it could have been prevented, and percent to population, his response to covid as a leader was so disjointed and chaotic and was more about pitting Americans against each other instead of uniting, resulted in the USA having the high death and case toll of a developed nation.

People in glass houses-
Seems like you have the same science background as Fernando

While I have no use for DEI, I feel if a Government unit (like the City of LA) wants to support DEI then setup a line item for it in the City’s budget so everyone can see the real cost. Separate from the entire fire issue I would be interested in seeing how much money came out of individual department budgets for DEI related items. My guess is multiple departments spent money on such programs and sponsorships, with the total cost being buried deep in their individual budgets. If the fire department budget, especially after being cut $17,000,000, is for the fire department then that is where the money should be spent.

Our senator's (John Boozman) brother was an eye doctor too. He died when a garage door spring broke and the door hit him on the head breaking his neck.

That's why the priority has to be preparedness. Storing food and water in a hurricane or earthquake for individuals, but pre-planning prevents pee-poor performance. And that's the job of the city. The horrific fires could be tamped down. More goats on the hillsides reducing the underbrush, fire breaks, and full reservoirs. That's on the city leaders.
I was crouched under the door, literally trying to hold it up as it s weight kept inching down and luckily, my neighbor saw it and he ran across the street to help me
He was a great guy, a retired vet with some PTSD issues, but he was super nice.

I gave him a nice gift later on. He literally saved my life. I would have ended up like your eye doctor example. The other time I almost died ager a storm was the alanyaichacic shock from bit by a creature. I had been going by bus with other volunteers ot Homestead to help with damaged homes but stopped after that incident. I then volunteered at Tropical Park in Miami at the time, where displaced large animals, and many horses were being kept. Some were injured, and many veterinarians would come by and treat the animals at no expense. You see the best and worst of people following an event -it also disrupts and sometimes changes your life. I changed professions and trained for appraising following Andrew as the property field I was working in got literally blown away, and I also took in a displaced friend as a roommate, which was super annoying, I counted the days until she left ( we were roommates about 6 months)

There are so many freak accidents following a storm, many of them from people trying to fix their home or property - falling off ladders, getting electrocuted from power lines hidden in the water, etc. And then just freaky weird stuff that happens.-

falling off ladders,
I won't get on one anymore. A cousin my age fell off trying to get a limb off the roof. Broke his hip, internal injuries and lived 2 months in pain before dying. My brother's brother-in-law died falling off a ladder and hitting a tire on his tractor. Broke his neck. Died instantly. No more ladders for me.

They knew, but did the voters approve more funds for them?
Hey, yous over there. I know we took your last dollar, but we need 10% more, so vote it in suckers. Taxes are better for me, than money for thee pocket.

Very sorry to hear that

When I do an FHA inspection, I bring a 3-step folding ladder, and if I cannot see what is in the attic with that, then too bad. I refuse to use those lean-to-tall ladders.

The scariest part for me was following the storms as if I had to drive; it was the intersections with their lights down. Minor ones are okay, but the major ones...not enough cops to direct traffic at each and ever one. It is every man or woman for themselves, chaos, horns honking cars just crossing over daring anyone to hit them, absolute mayhem. People do kind of try to time it and go all at once, but it is not possible. Really scary

Then, of course, cars run over nails, broken glass, and debris in the road, downed live wires etc. There are hidden hazards everywhere -why the authorities have to close off roads and enact a curfew until an area can be cleaned up.

Good lord you just cant stop with the hate and blaming liberals. NC is a red State. Their preparation was MIA. And. 911 happened on G Bush, the big tough-talking Replucans watch. Natural disaster and calamities happen, regardless of who is in power at the time.
You just don't get it and never will.

NC had a 1 in a 1,000 year instant flood, not an expected, annual emergency, one that should be prepared for. 911 was a terrorist attack that could not have been expected. Your pathetic attempts at protecting the incompetent CA leadership is blindingly partisan and in spite of the fact that you've appointed yourself the conscience of the AF, everybody sees thru your hypocritical partisan BS, at least everybody that has any common sense.

You've gone so far over the edge and lost what little credibility you might have had at one point in history that nobody cares about your bizarre, mindless political rantings.

BTW, Liberals are getting blamed because its their fault; even the Hollywood libs are finally starting to understand it and are turning on the "leadership". BTW, its stupid f'n fools that are getting blamed; just so happens they're all libtards out there.
