Wild Fires In LA

Insurance companies way smart to get out of calif, their actuaries probable have seen this coming.

And we are all brothers and sisters on this blog.

I won't have any trouble finding land sales in these areas for the next several years. I'm still picking up current land sales from homes that got burned out in the 2018 fire.
Careful now...Grant is going to become even more unhinged if you insist on finding a silver lining in this cloud.

BTW, with your background, how many of these fires do you think were intentionally set? Seems unlikely that many fires would break out simultaneously and at the worst time possible.

Also might be a good time to buy Home Depot stock.

My sister tells me that all the time and she lives in FL.

Are you my sister?
No, just a good read of character - I imagine you have some redeeming qualities, hidden, way down, hidden - has anyone found them yet?

I think that's funny btw

Not yet but my wife of 43 years keeps looking. I know, you feel sorry for her. Join the crowd.

His comment about land sales were dark humor funny - IMO

I do. She must be a saint - or deaf ? Not hearing a word you said in 43 years would explain it.

J Grant, can you provide the source for stating Mark has 'some' redeeming qualities instead of 'many' redeeming qualities. Your biased opinion isn't a source.

I think you both have many redeeming qualities. But my biased opinion might be wrong on both counts.

Saint. But the poor old lady is getting hard of hearing. But you would hate her too. She's MAGA to the core. Even attended the 2016 RNC Convention and was on the main floor when Trump was nominated.

High winds whipping power lines around could be one source

That meant the department's funding saw a decrease of $17,553,814, rather than almost $23 million.

meanwhile
the Feds are funding 22 million for immigrants in the sanctuary city of LA.
Homelessness funding for the city budget (from the city budget itself- supplemental budget)

No idea. Possibly none of them this time. However, in many of these events we find some firebug or careless hiker or electrical transmission line has been the flashpoint.

This region has had several major wildfire events over the years during the late fall months. We just had another such event occur a month back or so that burned some of the outlying areas out in s/w Riverside County. Several years ago the hillside areas on the s/east side in my town lost a number of homes to wildfires and we were all keeping an eye on their progress lest the fire get to us.

The city of Anaheim has some foothill areas on its east side, but one year a fire event kicked up during the Santa Ana conditions right near Disneyland which is nowhere near the hills. That fire wiped out several subdivisions even though located several miles away from "semi-rural".

The prevailing winds in the region normally flow from the sea to the desert. The ocean is basically our air conditioner. But when the desert winds kick up everything changes. The wind direction runs from the desert to the sea and they pick up energy and speed as they get funneled through the passes in the mountains. They also dry out so the humidity drops a lot. Our activities have nothing to do with these conditions and relatively little to do with the fire hazard itself. They're going to occur every year regardless of how hard we try to manage them.
