Wild Fires In LA

I cannot understand the Department of Insurance's longstanding policy of not letting insurers cover their risk. That policy left homeowners with no insurance coverage, or the Fair Plan, which is soon to be insolvent. Now that it is too late, the Commissioner has finally relented by issuing his Net Cost of Reinsurance in Ratemaking Regulation, allowing insurers to bake their cost of re-insurance into retail rates. When citizens begin to understand the actual cost of subsidizing their lifestyles, there will hopefully be a change in construction standards and environmental policies, which in turn will help minimize insurance costs.
Gawd! How can anyone believe this statement:
"Contrary to popular belief, the CA FAIR Plan is not a government-backed program: it is financially supported by California’s private home insurance companies, not taxpayers. "

And in Florida:
"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis warned earlier this year that Citizens was “not solvent” and that it can’t function with “millions of people on that because if a storm hits, it’s going to cause problems for the state.”"

But these are a step in the right direction. When the true costs are not hidden and paid by someone else, the actual problem becomes the focus (rather than who to victimize for payment) and solutions can and will be identified and implemented.

No one here lacks an understanding of the nightmare unfolding in CA. No one here is celebrating the suffering of one individual in those circumstances. But neither the virtue signaling by you two saints, nor anything else said in this forum, has any actual or possible impact whatsoever on that situation.

I'm not a saint, I NEVER said I was, I was raised a certain way with certain manners, decorum and etiquette taught to me by my parents, I know not everone was raised the same way, I get it, pointing out what someone has said is not by ANY means, being a saint, like I said, some people have lost EVERYTHING, if people think that right now is a good time to be political, blame people in charge, blame people for voting a certain way and having the attitude of "what do you expect" then hey man, more power to you, if people feel the need for those type of comments in this situation, again, more power to you and whoever else makes those type of comments, just because others may think those kind of comments are 100% unnecessary, doesn't mean they think they are a saint or any better than you.

Ok, King of The World. On what date can we have a conversation among ourselves again? Let us know.

As usual, when asked for facts or challenged on facts, the RW posters slither and disappear ( after they have run out of insults and cartoons)

Sorry had to slither off to do some actual appraisal work...here's a cartoon-

Recall effort against Newsom underway in California following alleged mishandling of LA fires
By David Propper (NY Post)
Published Jan. 13, 2025, 11:27 p.m. ET

"A recall attempt to knock California Gov. Gavin Newsom out of office is underway as he faces sharp criticism for his handling of the Los Angeles wildfires – with opponents labeling his leadership as a “series of catastrophic failures.”

Organizers against Newsom vowed to file papers in the next two weeks in hopes of jumpstarting the process that could lead to the Democrat’s ouster in the middle of his second term in the governor’s mansion.

The state leader – along with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass – is fighting for his political life as the wildfires have torched more than 40,000 acres, destroyed more than 12,000 structures and killed at least 24 people.

“Under the reign of Governor Newsom, living in California has become impossible for average people through years of poor policies which have increased the costs of living, increased crime, increased drug use and homelessness, increased the cost of burden [sic] on small businesses and communities, while decreasing our professional standards, education standards, the disappearance of billions of taxpayers’ dollars to failed pet programs, and our public services,” one recall organizer, Randy Economy, said in a statement.
Probably a waste of time.
