Wild Fires In LA

Really? Shut down FEMA? So many floods, hurricanes, tornados etc are natural occurances that arbitrarily wipe out individuals' lives, livelihood and even places to inhabit. Victims should just live in a hole or cave as punishment for NATURE or Man-Made disasters hitting them? Really? We are a connected humanity. I understand that in less populous states like Montana, you are mostly on your own to survive arctic temps, 20' snowdrifts, and wells running dry. And you alone cannot help even one person in hurricane-hit Florida, nor can one Floridian pay for your loss of cattle in a blizzard. But as members of humanity, we all have a connection to each other, and I'm sure if your neighbor down the road needed help, you would help them. We are all neighbors, and a little effort/money from each of us helps a LOT of our neighbors. I suspect without FEMA, most ppl would not recover from the environmental disasters that slap them to the ground.
Since Americans have all become professional victims, all the time, it is unlikely to pass. But since farmers are now carving up $20 billion or so in "disaster" payments because their gross incomes dropped a little from record highs, when are the appraiser bailouts coming...seeing as we are all connected members of humanity and all. And if your house, for which you pay about 40% of the current tax rate, has appreciated by millions over the past decade while mine has appreciated by a couple hundred thousand, at best, and my taxes have surpassed yours, when is my check going to arrive? Us being connected and humane and all.

Insurance companies way smart to get out of calif, their actuaries probable have seen this coming.

And we are all brothers and sisters on this blog.

After reading your comments and attitude about a HORRIBLE situation for people who have lost everything, I wouldn't call you or MANY others here on AF my brothers or sisters if you put a gun to my head, the fact that you can not display even an ounce of compassion tells a LOT about you as a person.

Posts 36 and 37 - you folks don't; know when to stop. Even a ten-year-old would not be that ghoulish and crass. Who raised you? Not anyone human it seems,.

I don;t care if you say I have no sense of humor. Idk what is funny about mocking people's suffering especially in real time as it is happening. Some of the people losing their lives and their nights might be Republicans, btw since that is all that seems to matter. I suppose these posters want democrats to die or think it is funny when they do, in a fire or otherwise.

It just show how a LOT of people on AF REALLY are as people and I'm sure that MANY of them "claim" to be "Christians" that's the sad part.

I didn't witness it, but a friend of mine with long acquaintence with Haiti explained to me that we assisted them in rebuilding from a hurricane disaster, replacing their grass huts with a lot of concrete. When the earth quake hit, they were crushed and maimed by concrete, but wouldn't have sufferred at all had they been in grass huts. Some favor from their connected, humane benefactors!

No one here lacks an understanding of the nightmare unfolding in CA. No one here is celebrating the suffering of one individual in those circumstances. But neither the virtue signaling by you two saints, nor anything else said in this forum, has any actual or possible impact whatsoever on that situation.

Really? that's all you got? Blame the helper for the next disaster? Well, jeepers. Then lets go ahead and blame FEMA for putting ppl temporarily in mfg houses while they rebuild, after which a tornado or hurricane or flood or electric power line wildfire burn wipes out the mobile home. A step too far, my friend...

Seems like the blame game is your thing. Carry on! As I recall, FEMA was blamed for the formaldehyde in those trailers, though. Folks who demand that others help them and pay their costs generally do demand that assistance on their own terms, not the terms offered.
