Wild Fires In LA

The real estate market is on fire in more ways than one, you say? Can you imagine the volume of people trying to find a new place to crash? Think of the outlying motel/hotel operators and the restaurants, the real estate agents and the title companies. Unbelievable clusterF of everybody trying to do the same thing simultaneously.
Interesting IMO that edicts about price goughing appear to exclude residential real estate transactions [that coincidentally are in transition based upon the impact of a recent court decision resulting from allegations of collusiion between sellers and buyers--although the "sweeping" changes pertain almost exclusively to data published on realtors' MLS information, while any n all communication elsewhere either published or verbal didn't change--as though its a sham.
 
I wish the climate deniers would refrain from their tired family post for a moment here. Most scientists and climatologists and nations around the world and NASA recognize climate change is a threat -
Really? Only an idiot would claim this chart shows increasing temperatures in LA. Temperatures peaked in the 1980s and have declined since. And 90% of that increase can be attributed to heat island effect as the town built up. Today is within one degree of the long-term mean https://www.climatestations.com/los-angeles-ca/

The real cause is allowing the undergrowth to flourish, failure to fund the fire department, failure to maintain the reservoirs, failure to create minimum fire standards for construction, and a lack of urban planning for the fact that the Santa Ana winds are real and have been for the eons. One degree temperature does not matter. Further, the first 4 months of 2024 had high rainfall meaning the grass was flourishing and growing well, but the last 8 months were dry, very dry. Nothing unusual in a Mediterranean climate.

A mix of local management meshes with climate change -for a perfect storm, so to speak - time after time... I feel bad for the next generation. We are leaving them with a mess, A huge deficit, a degraded climate, etc, They would be justified in hating us.

It is weird that the resale market has exploded with activity and that sellers are stepping up for whatever reason and putting their properties on the market. Incentives are lurking in there somewhere. Maybe they are getting offers they can't refuse.
