I think I read somewhere that only 70% of the population need to get it for herd immunity.

We're probably a lot closer to that than people realize. Everybody's got a different opinion, but it is highly probable that the number of exposed individuals is several times greater than reported. Not everyone gets tested, and not everyone gets tested show antibodies specific to this virus.

I stand corrected.

It may be possible to spread the virus through shedding because they don't have data that shows otherwise. Hopefully they can put in the work to find those answers. I don't want to be wearing a mask in nine months.

Actually, universal mask wearing doesn't exist. There is always a certain part of the population that doesn't follow the rules. There is plenty of visual evidence right now looking at countries that wear masks versus countries that don't.

There are plenty of examples of everything everywhere. Sweden has a very different curve from the rest of Europe now, where are early on it was very similar (though with a higher peak). Out in my work area the infections have notably increased, yet the population there wears more respirators than the overall population.

The commonality of all this is that the virus is simply following the pattern that nature always follows, barring those areas of the work that can completely shut themselves off from the rest of humanity.

Numbers show that 5.7% of the population has had it. So it could be 7-8% have had the virus. We have a long ways to go....

It is true you can find real world examples to support your argument, but we know better than to trust a guy that values a pool at $300k because of a paired sale that he found.

There’s just a ton of unknowns, and truth is we can only know years from now. And I edited my last post to include a link to a podcast, they lay it out pretty well.

Back to the OP, given my age and overall health I’m leaning to not taking the vaccine, my wife given her health and occupation likely will take the vaccine. If I had healthy minor children I would not vaccinate them.

We can do this all day. Population distribution/density comes into play. Also, the massive societal damage is ignored in these analysis.

But ultimately, none of this has changed the course of the virus; only the length of time it is around.

BTW, the most expensive pool I've come across over the past year cost $3,000,000.

I am not making an argument about the prudence of different measures. That is for a different day.

The pool must have come with sharks with laser beams on their heads.
