The problem is not that your MLS will sue you... they might, but I doubt it. What might happen and hopefully it does is that multiple MLS platforms... maybe even those competing with CoreLogic...perhaps those owned by BlackKnight will cause action against CoreLogic. Corelogic in turn says the appraiser's lied to us... the appraisers said they owned the rights to the data and furthermore the appraisers ALL agreed to indemnify us. Then you get to pay CoreLogic's legal bills and your E+O isn't going to save you.
Thousands of appraisers get hit with huge judgements owed to corelogic... thousands of appraisers are out of business and CoreLogic takes the data you gave them freely and ports it to their AVM. Now that you are out of the way, there is nothing to stop them.
Don't think it can happen???? Well, you never thought CoreLogic would own alamode either did you?
They don't have to win when you sign the opt in. Corelogic can't lose. You agree to defend them against any claims arrising our of the data you submit.
And once you opt-in.. there is no opt out. They will take what you have now and continue to take without your knowledge indefinitely into the future.
