I don't think it's the money. I wouldn't expect it to be noticeably cheaper in any convention town. The Vegas angle might attract a few more heads than holding it in Sacramento or Dallas or Branson but that's about it.

Appraisers as a group are not known for being real social so that's why running one of these conventions on the suits-free basis would never be viable.
