Displacement is happening to many jobs especially in high tech. It's a tough market for a computer graduates.
Experienced folks are fired every year. Walmart, Tyson, on and on, basically makes sure no employee reaches full retirement status. You're good for about 14-19 years depending...then you are replaced by one of your underlings.
Smart young people move jobs every two years for a better job after getting the experience. Days of lifetime loyalty to a company is over.
Until they hit the wall, and the employer realizes that they are a serial short-timer. They hire accordingly. I knew a guy who went from job to job for 10 years...then couldn't find a job for months on end. Ultimately, he hired as a delivery driver for a Fedex contractor. He likes the job, it pays decent, but he had to take a cut in salary from his technical jobs in programming. He's done that for 10 years now.
Few people understand that the petrodollar "deal" was oil was traded in dollars which stabilized the prices, and in exchange we agreed to help the Saudi's defend against the likes of Iran and other Islamic enemies of the royal Saudi family.
Housing is the only industry I know where a total lack of sales causes prices to go higher. Everyone else, like cars, appliances, furniture, etc. has to cut prices. Go figure.
And your answer to letting Russia invade a sovereign country is what? Should we let them continue expanding their borders, say Finland, Sweden, or Alaska? Funny cartoons are nice to look at and giggle, but what is the world to do in your opinion?
