I confirmed with the lightning team today.

So I thought a channel on lightning, let's say 2 parties, each had to commit the same amount of BTC to the channel.

Example, I open a channel with Amazon and want to do 1 BTC (to buy merch) I thought Amazon had to match the channel with 1 BTC also making 2 BTC.

But no, only 1 party has to add BTC.

This is a game changer. They did it. This is the future. They solved the scaling problem.

When lightning up and running. Amazon will be able to open up channels with customers and can have billion transactions a second. Zero lag, no fees.

BOOM.

And Amazon can hedge their BTC risk by shorting futures just like companies hedge currency risk now.

They are really doing it. This is so close to taking off.
