Call to action for NC Appraisers

Maybe not. Our family is one of the largest builders in nc, we know how to lobby and grease the wheels. fwiw, we were able to get out friend pardoned by the president in his last term. Look it up if you do not believe me.
Depending on the crime....
I may not be bragging about the pardon....
Plus....
How much did the pardon cost....

My next question is if your family's one of the largest builders in NC why are you doing appraisals ? Are they your only client ? and your worried about outside competition ? Seems you have a lot of emotional investment in an issue most appraisers wouldn't spend 5 minutes even thinking about . Just asking I'm a follow the money kind of guy......lol

Easy. They sold it awhile back and signed a non compete. Residential . As I said before, I do land acquisition for them...multi family and mixed use. SLOW process...mostly playing pocket pool . I'm 40...how do you think I have the free time to come on here and run my mouth and be willing to say things most want for the fear of being blacklisted?

When you don't give a f....and cannot be controlled....

Back to the OP and the push for alternative experience. The appraisal institute proudly submitted their support:

"AI welcomed the AQB’s shift in language from “alternative experience” to “additional experience,” emphasizing that the change better reflects the intent to enhance—not replace—traditional supervisory models. The letter highlighted AI’s longstanding commitment to competency-based qualifications, referencing the organization’s own Core Competency Matrix developed in 2010, which recognizes diverse professional backgrounds and life experiences as part of a holistic view of appraiser development.

Among the key recommendations:

  • Allow up to 25% of required experience to be earned through verified “Foundational Knowledge” activities.
  • Grant experience credit for data collection assignments performed by credentialed trainees under proper supervision.
  • Increase flexibility for accepting government and international appraisal experience.
  • Permit appraisal firms, not just individuals, to serve as supervisors to expand mentorship capacity.
  • Ensure AQB oversight of practicum programs for quality and consistency."

I'm sure REVAA helped write it.

At 40 I would be cranky too. Lol
