Calling for an appraiser boycott nationwide for a week

In a nation with 10+% unemployment; a raging ecological disaster in the Gulf; the threat of war in Korea; an active war in Afghanistan; the potential acquisition of nuclear weapons in Iran; looming mid-term elections; a political crisis centered on illegal immigration; a continuing foreclosure crisis; and looming taxes to pay for the largest pile of debt the world has ever seen, who in their right mind thinks that the press (or the American people) gives a rat's *** about the plight of real estate appraisers?

Sad but true.:(

I agree with boycotting AMCs for one week but it makes no sense if we don't have a voice. A boycott needs to be organize and it would also need the national press involved to be effective otherwise you are just wasting your time. It has to be planned 4 to 6 months in advance so the organizer can give it publicity and the appraisers can make the necessary adjustments in their finances.

I do not believe you will ever get enough appraisers together to agree on anything. I also believe that the general public has no interest in problems in the appraisal world. If we selected ONE AMC and boycotted that one forever it could make a difference. Just one AMC out of business because appraisers took a stand and said enough is enough. Maybe someone that is good with the polls can come up with one to select the AMC to be flushed first! :clapping:

Did this list grow by a lot in the past year?

Probably more appraisers will use those links to apply for work orders, than to join a boycott...

Calvin hit the nail squarely on the head.

Once supply and demand come into better balance fees will improve, well at least until the skippy mills fire up bringing in a new boat load of trainee runners.

I was on "that site" like a year ago and it looks like it tripled in size+ from what I see. I entered them as links and then removed the link so now they at least have to try and find them on their own. Besides, is there anyone on the list that is worth working for AT face value?

If you guys/gals think it's adding to the problem by giving them exposure, I'll take it down or HS can.

I think it reads like a who's who of $#%%^%#.

Well, I never have and never would work for an AMC, so I guess I'm already boycotting. However, I'm going out of town next week to visit my kid in Ohio, so if you can schedule the National Boycott for next week, I'm IN!:D

Mike

Obviously capitalism is king amongst most you, no greater good to sustain independence in your industry. We can see how capitalism did wonders for the big banks and BP. How many of you are any different from the lenders in your selfish search for the dollar is beyond me? When your lender has finally realized that working with an AMC and getting kick backs or setting up their own AMC is so much easier and profitable than supporting the independent appraiser, you with your cozy relationships will feel the pain of so many of your fellow appraisers that you have called the weak. Yes it is survival of the fittest, the big lenders and AMCs. Sit back a watch as big banks and AMCs crush the weak, factious independent appraisers.

Calling all appraisers.

Sign up for lighting, day boycotts at AMCboycott@gmail.com A mass email will be sent the day before a boycott of the offending AMC.

Let us boycott the worst offenders and go up from there. Really bad ones are already hurting as more appraisers are refusing their insulting fees. Randomly, continuously hurt their ability to do their lender's orders and let their incompetency show through. (let us get the lender to say "You're fired"). Since many of you are boycotting many bad AMCs already this should not be too hard.
We can boycott 2 ways:
-by fee across the board for all AMCs (only do an order if it is the right price, force them to up their fee out of desperation)
-Specific AMC (the non to slow payers, 48 hrs, broadcast, etc.; I am looking for a three of the worst to start out)

Is there such a thing as a top 10 AMC list?

Take back the power and start making the AMCs pay.

Exactly what are you going to LIGHT?

And will you please report back to us how YOUR boycott went .. Im relatively sure you are the only one that will be participating ...... I swear I thought you were going to write that this is CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN (community organizer and all) ..... which by the way is the motto of the AMCs .... the CHANGE they pay is something they can definately believe in .......

But enjoy your vacation.:Eyecrazy:
