Corelogic Just Acquired Alamode

I don't think the fest organizers could possibly have seen this coming. It costs money to run one of these conferences, so at this point they may not even be in a position to turn the sponsorship down.

Additionally, unless the contract contains language allowing the Fest organizers to cancel the contract in the event that ala mode was purchased, there is the matter of having a legally binding contract in place

Again, good luck to the Appraiser Fest organizers. A hard lesson ahead.
I’ve seen you say this 2 times now. Please elaborate on your hard lesson. I’m having a hard time understanding and since you apparently have it all figured out I’d appreciate the help.

I don't understand the hard lesson comment either. Seems a bit disingenuous. You get that a lot of out some members of this forum.

What's the hard lesson - that companies get bought out and when it happens in RE, it will most likely involve corelogic? Not sure that qualifies as a hard lesson.

Even today, some in this profession seem to despise the idea that apprasiers can gather together and get involved in their own profession. Apparently that's good for every other profession, but bad when appraisers do it.

I would have no problem if alamode kept it's sponsorship. They have the burden on them to prove they are still worthy of appraiser's business after selling.

I think it's very clear what they mean. Sponsors don't just sponsor anonymously. They expect exposure in return. Appraiserfest is about to become a giant billboard for Corelogic. No matter how it is spun, alamode IS now corlogic and vise versa. Although the public may not recognize this, anyone in the know is aware of it.

Right or wrong, a lot of people here have a problem with that. We see it as a conflict. Alamode will have a name for this Kool Aid........ They'll call it "Synergy".

Some of us are just not that thirsty.

No need to insult him Chad but I can see your point. It's just that a significant contingency of appraisers feel they DON'T deserve our business. So why provide them with a forum to do so? Would the absence of their sponsorship kill the event? That's an honest question as I was not involved in the organization of it.

You're in a no win situation and some appraisers will turn against you through no fault of your own. No one can deliver what they really desire, they want the deal to be unwound and they want CoreLogic dead. That isn't going to happen so their displeasure will get directed at anyone in the general direction. It's already starting; Here, on Facebook, and Phil didn't dedicate his last podcast to talking appraisers off of the cliff because this is a non-issue.

Good luck, hopefully this is the only bump in the road to a successful inaugural Appraiser Fest.

But that's all some appraisers have; Insults. The driving force behind much of this is anger, and their so angry that anyone who has even a slightly different opinion is the enemy.

Sounds like wishful thinking from an AMCs perspective. I don't see any appraisers turning on appraiser fest due to one of their sponsers getting bought out. If anything, it should make them even more upset and more dedicated to organization.

Saying your comment appears disingenuous isn't an insult. It's an observation.

I've seen the word snowflake on this board dozens of times. That would be an insult.
