Is PAVE being paved over?

According to Claude.

President Donald Trump's recent executive order mandates the termination of all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs within federal agencies, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

The FHFA oversees Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. While the executive order explicitly targets federal agencies, its direct applicability to the GSEs remains uncertain. However, given the FHFA's supervisory role, it's plausible that the agency may direct the GSEs to align with federal policies, potentially leading to the discontinuation of their DEI initiatives. As of now, there has been no official statement confirming the extension of the DEI ban to the GSEs.

The self-appointed Politburos at the GSEs and TAF better get in line quickly.

good riddance. The notion that appraisers should not use location as a factor in appraisals was stupid.

HUD but the GSEs are not official Federal Agencirs so I don't think they have to comply but I may be wrong.

FHFA doesn't just oversee Fannie and Freddie, they are the conservator. They pretty much have full control. They very well may have the authority to terminate DEI

Right from the FHFA website:

"As conservator, FHFA has the powers of the management, boards, and shareholders of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac continue to operate as business corporations."

"FHFA is responsible for the overall management of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and has informed the Enterprises which decision-making functions should be performed by the Enterprises' boards of directors and/or management teams. The boards and management teams must consult with FHFA and obtain conservator approval as FHFA directs. Overall, the conservator has ultimate authority over all operations of the Enterprises."
