In Atlanta, the unethical conduct from lenders is so pervasive here, we have lost much business because of clients:

1. wanting higher values
2. wanting us to leave out damages

This is the only business that I know of where honesty and integrity can cost you money and more business.

OHHH YEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Yep! I've signed it too! Let them try to hurt me for it! Most of my clients appreciate my honest opinions, and those who don't quickly find out that I am not interested in playing games.

This is not to imply that I believe I am infallible. Far from it, I can and do goof. But I will not play games with my license or my ethics, they mean more to me.

okay, I'll climb off my soapbox now

You guys talked me into it...both my wife and myself (same office) will sign it...how do you track the effectiveness of this petition? I'm sick of catching flack from lenders when the property does not live up to their number.
Welcome new signers..

Kevin the effectiveness of the petition is enhanced greatly by YOUR active peddling of it as a tool to effect change.

As I have said before: tell a friend, tell five friends! Mention the thing at appraiser gatherings and see if you can get other folks to sign.

Then go down to your state legislature and tell them that there are problems which will soon come home to roost if SOMETHING isn't done and soon: their constituents and local banks (not to mention national wlefare) may well be at risk.

THEN it has mroe validity and more effect!

Kind Regards,

Someone with FACE TIME with the local moguls.

The same is here in Austin, and it sickens me that some lenders hold other appraisers names (like carrots) in front of me to try to get me to support their numbers. My standard response is: "I do not compete with those type of appraisers." But the lenders only do it because of Skippies of the world.

p.s. happily signed. #8218

I've got to say that for me, this website is a blessing and therapy. As someone who left the profession over four years ago and is considering starting again, this has really encouraged me. As I reflect on what the business was like when I left, and only imagining what it will be like upon my return to the U.S. I sincerely appreciate having a sounding board and almost a support group. This time I won't feel like I am alone.

Posted from: 67.50.205.139 If appraisers stopped accepting orders asking for predetermined values there would be no issue, as this is a clear violation.

Posted from: 67.50.205.139 Please also look into apprasiers that accept orders asking to check for value as its a violation os USPAP.
