A lot of doctors and lawyers work as employees. Most everyone sells their time/productivity for money. Only the terms of service are different.

Of course they are....
To compare appraiser skillset to a doctor skillset is crazy....

Then appraisers could be compared to bank tellers, garbage pick up folks, pizza delivery drivers....
But appraisers compare themselves to doctors, lawyers, etc....

Actually, the doctor analogy is a fair comparison in that these Medical practices work for a medical group ( in my area Axeminster, Providence, Torrance IPA, etc.). The medical group is like the AMC, only paying out so much per patient visit. In other words, the doctor has no control of how much to charge for his services.... they only get what the Medical Group gives. Why do you think when you go to the doctor you're seen by a nurse practitioner?

Many doctors have bailed on practice and gone into being the university professor..... more money in it.

Compare them to whatever you want but in the final analysis "which of these is not like the others". Apples, oranges, peaches, cherries, plums, grapes are all fruits. But they are not the same.

Okay then if that's what is happening in the market and Congress gets around to deciding the AMCs have got to get cut out too then that's going to be the next step. That will only leave the lender's themselves to deal with, naked and with no other parties to hide behind. Stripped of their remaining plausible deniability. Which IMO should have happened in the first place.

To whatever extent the AMCs have been passing pressure along from the lenders to the appraisers, they get what they get. Nobody here is going to mourn the demise of the AMCs, if/when. Certainly not me.

What probably won't ever happen is a return to MBs controlling most of the appraisers.

Congress members get $$ from special interest groups and lobbying..... appraisers are roadkill.

Well it's too bad my grandma died before I became an appraiser....
She always hoped to have doctor in the family....

Who is doing that? The clergy is considered a profession but that doesn't mean most people are equating their skillset to the doctor's skillset.

it is ok...you can still deliver pizzagates
