VA Fee Schedule

Very true statement. This was my last flight mission just before I returned the good ole USA.

U.S. forces suffered a staggering number of rotorcraft losses—108 helicopters destroyed and 600 damaged. Of the approximately 10,000 U.S. troops committed to LAM SON 719, the U.S. suffered 215 KIA, 1,149 WIA, and 42 MIA.
There just are no words that could adequately convey the sense of collective loss, the gratitude, the anger over the tragedy of it all, the sense of helplessness. Just senseless.

To this day we still are recovering and processing US military servicemen's remains from all wars. I am glad I made a career of the military. It was the greatest adventure of my life. Appraising can be challenging but boring.

All I can think is that the OP does nothing but VA appraisals. Otherwise, the OP would realize that appraisers are doing sub-$500 all over the place for non-VA assignments. I know this by talking to other appraisers and by the Mercury Network bids I get where I bid $500 and two days without getting the assignment. I will never (I hope) stoop below the $500 fee mark again.

Ah, the irony isn’t lost on anyone! So, the same appraisers who criticize "low-ball" fees are now cashing in on the VA's higher appraisal rates? That’s a plot twist worthy of a sitcom! Maybe it’s a case of “do as I say, not as I do.” In reality, the VA’s set fees are meant to reflect the higher standards.

That is a fantasy! What are those higher standards?
Being a bottom dweller, you won't know if it hit you in the face. Keep on trucking for those $250 appraisal fees.

So none that can be articulated. You probably don't know, since you didn't know VA has a website, but their appraisal requirements are public information. Nothing remarkable or higher standard contained therein.

We still have a huge military base near me. It was even more huge years ago (before my time) until the Navy shifted some of the base to other bases.

But we have tons of veterans from all branches that live in the Memphis area. I don't think there are that many appraisers but they just keep what they need to serve the veterans in the area. I don't know how many appraisers. I would guess 8-15 maybe. I could be way off. It may be more like 15-25. I don't know.

They load my platter. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

The Navy still has many barracks for Veterans in Millington Navy base. Airport. Golf course, etc. Many of them are high paying jobs and they live in some very expensive homes off the Navy base. They are more of a strategical location now than they were years ago in Millington.

The Memphis area covers several counties. I only work Shelby County. Some areas are in North Miss, West Memphis Ark, Tipton county, Fayette County and other areas. I can't handle that much area. I am comfortable just taking care of Shelby County. I had to beg to only give me Shelby County. Many appraisers cover way more territory than me that are on the panel. Shelby County is largest County geographically in the whole State of Tennessee.

I was in larger area and had to beg to be taken off some areas outside Shelby County.

@TRESinc knows he quit the panel. Trust me I would charge way more than VA fee on many assignments if I were directly engaged by a lender.
