Wild Fires In LA

Referencing the title of this thread, yes the winds kicked up here pretty good today. I heard there are still a few hotspots, but I sure hope no new fires start up. Unfortunately, a few arsonists have been trying (and being arrested) for trying to start even more fires for their own crazy reasons.

Charlie Munger Said He And Warren Buffett Skip Insurance And All Rich Should Too
Munger is dead in case you forgot. A house represented chump change for him. Not so much for most people.

Allow rebuild in affected areas of any disaster - (IMO) - but put a cap on the damage for insurance and for FEMA policies - perhaps at 500 k max. That would lower insurance rates and encourage the pope to rebuild smaller, more sustainable houses. Better land and flood and water management. Ban fireworks, fix powerlines, put them underground. All that takes years but start now and progress.

What is often harder to replace are jobs, and businesses and the fact that local businesses rely on the population as customers and when people lose their jobs or move or relocate while they reulbid, it t affects the local restaurants and businesses who struggle or go broke. How much should local or fed govt help in those situations? Idk the answer.

That sound pretty good thought J Grant. A limit on payout, but it seems the government puts out more than received. So if you can cure that, your idea is perfect. Personally, i'm tired of people building houses along a constant flooding river. Fannie now buys that property instead of fixing many times. The same goes for hurricane & tornado alley.

I predict los angelas burned areas will become an urban desert. Too many related things to be fixed at once, including properties and businesses.

California Wildfire Map Update As Poway Fire Starts

Firefighters are still battling two massive wildfires in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon as a new fire ignited near San Diego as strong winds returned to southern California.
Powerful Santa Ana winds fueled the rapid spread of wildfires in San Diego County early Tuesday, prompting evacuations as officials in Los Angeles remained on high alert amid high winds and relentless dry conditions.

At least three fires broke out in northern San Diego County overnight, including the Lilac and Pala fires, which grew to 50 and 30 acres, respectively, with 0% containment as of Tuesday morning.

There was an article about the homes that survived the flames. Rebuilding should have to take into account the fire resistance of the homes along with the ability to withstand earthquakes. A lot of the homes had wood siding and were not built to withstand fires.

You'll never be able to understand the concept that when voters vote for fools (libs in general) they get fools that do stupid sht, like worry more about a shrub than they worry about the safety of the citizens.

I know that's a tough concept for you to grasp but maybe someday you'll figure it out.

As I stated above, stupid people voting for stupid people. It has nothing to do with polluting or drilling but this deflection is typical for you when you are unable or unwilling to face the facts.
They don't worry about me!

That is completely logical. But with the amount of regulation in California and the constant threats and lawsuits by eco activists, it will probably be more unnecessarily difficult and expensive. It took them over 3 years to get the plan approved to protect the milk vetch

Like I said to J Grant, you accuse Trump of doing what Biden actually did.....go after his political opponents. Trump already served 4 years, who in the hell did he target or go after with his DOJ. He did not pardon himself or his family like Biden did today.

For the record, Biden knew full well of all of Hunter's dealings and crimes and these pardons today are a disgrace to the country.

If Trump is smart, he will investigate and indict all of the Biden foreign business partners, force everyone with immunity from pardons to testify (as they cant claim the 5th with the immunity they now possess) and get the full truth out for us all. If they are innocent I'll be the first to apologize.

Trump went through 2 impeachments and trials in 4 liberal jurisdictions... So who really works that way.
The Democrats are the ones who squeezed this toothpaste out of the tube. You can't shove it back in. It's a matter of survival at this point. Time to inflict maximum pain and destruction on your political enemies.

Lol, zero proof Biden and KAmana said anything that bad
Well, Biden did say "We finally beat Medicare." Really a horrible thing to do to the valuable medical program many seniors rely on. Evil, frankly.

Rebuild to the same size without resetting property tax assessments. Of course, if the Newsom's govt did that with this fire it would probably be unfair to previous fire victims. But screw them because L.A. is special, right?
