3000+ views, 5 posters.

Not sure what that means, and anyone who would speculate on it would be foolish, but yesterday there was 2200 views, and today there are over 3000, and yet there are only about 5-7 people posting here. I wonder who the other 2000+/- are?

Also, let me make a few things clear here for all:

1. I did not author this petition. I offered a lot of edits, but I did not edit Craig's thought content in preference for my own.

2. I have only been acquainted with Craig for about a week, and I am not here to say that what we have is gold, I just did what Craig came here asking for...comments, suggestions, etc...

3. If you are going to say that you don't like the tone, as it is too whiney, then offer the fix.

4. It has become clear to me that at least one of you haven't even read the re-write, but you are posting about its contents. That is not very proffessional of anyone.

5. If all you have are adjectives, and no verbs...please stop posting.

That means get off your *** and make it better if you think it can be. But if you have no solutions, you really should keep the complaints to a minimum.

Notice, I am not arguing for the merits of this petition. I asked Craig to leave certain things out too. He said no. But I am not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I was confident that the Forum would be able to CONVINCE him with the thoughtful argument that is prevalent and sought after on this forum. I haven't seen much thoughtful argument...just a lot of "it won't work" "I don't like it" or I don't agree with enough to sign it"

What I don't see alot of is:

Hey, if you deleted point #4, that would be a good start...or ....hey, change the wording about mandating pay in advance...or something like that....

Where are those kinds of posts?

Look at George Hatch's posts if you need a template for how to offer thoughtful argument.

Anyway, I am hoping that you guys will help him make a winner here.

If there is no winner at all to be made, say so... But if you know a way to make it better....PLEASE let Craig know.

Sorry for the rant. And don't confuse any of this as trying to distance myself from the petition...when it is finally ready, I think it will be signable.

Compare this document to the Appraisers petition and start from there, Too much minutiae BS that clouds the water, Too much repetition , over and over about the same thing, did I mention that its repetitive? I have offered Craig my opinions PM, and will offer more after the new year, and he can share my PM with others if he chooses. It sounds alot like pitchforks and torches as is, without recognition that the monster was not created in a vacuum without appraisers involved. Now its kill the monster, we don't want his type in our neighborhood, because he's raping our women.....

Craig, you gettin' this? Good stuff in there to be had. Like havoc and chaos?

We live in different worlds.

Funny you mention ice cream. I by mine from Maple View Farms, a local dairy that has a couple of ice cream stores and sells their milk through local grocery stores (as well as their ice cream stores.) I am well versed in the dairy industry, my father worked in that industry for 45 years both as a regulator and consultant. You are correct that it is largely consolidated into a few companies, but there are still many independents doing quite well.

I would not be shocked in the least at how many companies are actually controlled by any company. Look at the boards of directors, and you can really narrow the number of people in control.

Check and you will see WaMu used eAppraiseIt and LSI up until their recent troubles. WaMu (the name was officially adopted by Washington Mutual in August) did not have an ownership interest in either.
Big Business and Big Brother, partners in oppressing you, and I.
Might be oppressing you, but not me. There are many local institutions to use if you look for them. By there very nature, they are not nationally known. There are many locally owned community banks (and grocery stores.) One can shop at national chains for national brands, or one can buy local products at local stores. One can work for national banks, or one can work for local clients. Each person makes their choice, but only a limited number of people will be supported by any market.

Larry, Craig is free to share my PM with you if he chooses. If you want a few tid bits of things I personally disagree with that I see as Quitoxesque windmills. one is COD up front from the borrower prior to the "inspection". I am one state away from you, and we do very few CODs and have few problems collecting. So what if the lender or MB wants to pay the fee out of their proceeds? Would it not be better to strengthen state laws along those lines etc? Maybe requiring that the orderer guarantees the fee, rather than the blanket, "from the HO prior to appraisal" etc. One of many, and there are many, MPOV.

The petition

Craig, you gettin' this? Good stuff in there to be had. Like havoc and chaos?

Problematic ? A logistical nightmare ? A hurdle that is seemingly not overcomeable ? An impassible obstical ? ? ? ? A clot or an impass in the present system ???? or leave havoc, and delete chaos as perhaps it is redundant, but it also does add emphasis - What is better, what is best to those who are reading this ? So that the message is clear?

Tell me, I dunno? Copy and paste the latest revision to your MS word, and e-mail your rendition back to larry and myself. CB

Larry, Mr. Rex is giving good advice. What is wrong with looking at the Appraisers petition as a template? A lot of appraisers signed it, so IMHO it would be a good starting point. Remember a very important part of the appraisers job is to be unbiased, so removing any bias and emotion from you petition is criticle to the credibility. :)

Sorry, inside baseball that nobody caught.

I had told Craig I didn't like the terms havoc and chaos in the petition...

I was saying that Rex's advice was indeed, GOOD, like me saying leave out havoc and chaos...

I don't even think Craig got it...not everybody has a photographic memory like me. Sorry, sometimes I forget that it is my superpower.

I wasn't at all maligning what Rex said...he was shoring up a point I had already made to Craig earlier.

The advice is great, but it is piece meal, and being offered as an overall generalization with 0 specificity - re-write it please if something is not right. Paragrapgh by paragraph, and if any paragraph IS right in your opinion, then leave it be.

If we attempt to correct someting wrong one letter at a time, one word at a time, and add one comma here or take one away there, we are looking at a final rendition in several years.

Only Larry has stepped up to the plate to date, with a redraft. Quite a few others that I am communicating with are fine with the way it is.

2 dozen people signed my 3rd graders version the first 24 hours it was posted.

It looks as if the attacks on this document in its present form and the back and fourth bickering appear to be subsiding. I like what Donna Jenkins wrote about this being a testing period for the petition and all the posting IS a sign of interest on a very important issue. I know it can be difficult for anything like this to come together, but I do believe that the majority of individuals who read and respond do want to make a difference and realize NOW is the time to make it happen. Even if your dead set against signing it, your experience and knowledge could help in the form of constructive ideas. When we can get past the nit picking there are a ton of good people out there with great ideas. We're up against a giant here and I think they know our lack of solidarity is a weakness. Lets work the best we can on this.
