The Decline of the Appraisal Industry: An Unsustainable Future

I did. And I was making $400 to $450 per at that time, only $50 to $100 more than I made in 1988. If I was doing 10 to 15 reports a month now I would need $1,000 per to survive.

Hmmm ... so - you have relatively high expenses *BUT* also high enough retirement income to pay them. Well done.

Well, I was thinking of how active income is taxed. You deduct your operating expenses from your gross and the government wants its take of what remains—not much left over out of $15,000. Not these days, not in CA.

Yup. That crossed my mind. Especially with y'all living in Sacramento (which I consider to be a nice city as I appraised it for 11 years and was stationed there way back in the early 1990s).

But down here - we have a much lower cost of living and no state income tax. And more good paying appraisal work because of the growing demographics. ;) Oh and you should see that GIGANTIC Tesla factory outside of Austin. Drove past it twice on my way to and back from Dallas recently - it is something to see. All those Cybertrucks with all blinkers flashing arranged outside one set of doors where they just came off the assembly line.

They built a private toll hwy that goes right past it through rolling open country. And just a couple of miles North of the Tesla plant - you pass the brand new Austin Business Airport. Gleaming with the most up-to-date corporate jets on the runways. Get it yet? Texas works. I would bet the milk money that they built the airport just so Elon & co. would be able to get in and out of the Tesla plant in no time and with no trouble.

God I love Gov. Abbott - he is in his third term now. We don't have artificial limitations just so the next crony can get into office. We elect good governors and then we keep em! :dancefool: :clapping:

Austin is a "Blue State". Rest of Texas should follow Austin's path.

I don't think he's great. That's why he'll never be President.

Fast food workers in CA make $20/hour.
Today while measuring a house, I got my expensive sneakers muddy. Ugh.
Hate this job.....at least fast food workers don't have to worry about muddy shoes to clean afterwards.
